C Jagdish Born in Hyderabad on 1 August 1956, to Yalaiah, a supervisor in the Andhra State Electricity Board, and chittaramma, a midwife, Jagdish was cradled in the life patterns of small-town IndiaGraduating with a diploma in Painting from the college of Fine Arts and Architecture in Hyderabad, Jagdish moved to Baroda in 1978 to enroll for a post-diploma in mural design. To date Jagdish has created over four hundred paper sculptures, many of them lifesize, others larger than life; most of his pieces have many individual sculptures alluringly arranged. While the majority of his work is held in private collections all over the world, his doors series is included in the collections of the Madras Museum and the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi. The Bharat Bhavan in Bhopal, too, is home to some of his works.
